Once the site of the first well, Santa Fe and Iron has been home to numerous businesses and banks. One of the oldest buildings in town is on the southeast corner. Built in 1885 by town founder A.M. Campbell, he operated a general store and early post office. The second floor once housed the board of education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just across the street to the west is the oldest bank in Salina, the UMB Bank, formerly the National Bank of America. Founded in 1887, this bank has been in several locations. In 1902, the bank built the building on the northeast corner of Iron and Santa Fe. In 1922-23, the bank built and moved to its current location.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"811\" src=\"https:\/\/walksalina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Salina-pic-1024x811.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-679 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/walksalina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Salina-pic-1024x811.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/walksalina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Salina-pic-300x238.jpg 300w, https:\/\/walksalina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Salina-pic-768x608.jpg 768w, https:\/\/walksalina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Salina-pic-1536x1217.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/walksalina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Salina-pic-2048x1622.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/walksalina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Salina-pic-1200x951.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/walksalina.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Salina-pic-1980x1568.jpg 1980w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>The northwest corner also featured a bank, the Farmers National Bank. H.D. Lee was president of the bank for several years.
