Story Walks

A Story Walk combines reading and outdoor activity by placing the pages of a children’s book along a walking route. As you move from one display to the next, you can read the story together while enjoying fresh air, exploring your surroundings, and getting a little exercise. Story Walks encourage literacy, movement, and family time while helping people connect with parks, trails, and community spaces. They are a fun way for people of all ages to experience a story one step at a time!

Take a walk through downtown Salina and enjoy a story along the way! During Kansas Mobility Week, November 1–7, follow the pages of Duck on a Bike by David Shannon on a family-friendly Story Walk. Starting at Redefine Nutrition, the route combines reading, outdoor activity, and exploring downtown businesses on foot.

The StoryWalk is a partnership between Salina Downtown, K-State Extension, and Bike Walk Salina. Bring the family, enjoy the story, and discover downtown Salina one page at a time!
